The Impact Center works to empower you to make a difference through facilitating mobilization, leadership training, and helping local projects happen!
YOU WRITE
THE BILL
In the age of new power, constituents should have the ability and knowledge to draft and present bill ideas to their legislators. Our ‘You Write the Bill: Participatory Lawmaking’ Program walked our participants through the legislative process. Outcome? 15 bills drafted, 7 bills submitted, and 2 passed into law.
JOURNEY AS
A SUBSTITUTE
Last year, I began my journey learning more about our Roanoke City Public Schools. Our Secretary of Education, Atif Qarni, has challenged legislators to substitute in schools. My goal is to substitute in every (24) public elementary, middle, and high school in the 2018-2019 school year.

GREEN NEW DEAL
The Green New Deal VA is the plan for Virginia, to create thousands of good jobs addressing climate change & restoring Virginia’s environment. The GND VA is the most diverse coalition for justice in VA's history. Here's a link to the most recent GND Act.

PROMISE
Democratic Promise was created to help rebuild trust in the Democratic Party by helping people in our community. Our promise is to listen to your concerns and help govt. services better help you.
STAR CITY
SWEETNESS
Annually we partnering with SWVA Brain Injury Services to host fundraiser to help fund this important organization. This event partners small business bakery owners, and the SWVA Brain Injury Services to bring awareness to this organization, and advertise for our sweet shops around the valley.
NEW CHAPTER
INITIATIVE
We worked with God’s House Baptist Ministry on a house off of Melrose Avenue in Roanoke to create transitional housing for recently released ex-offenders to provide a space for job searching, job training, and access to rehabilitative services.
ELEVATING
LIVES
We worked with Greenvale School and the City of Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) on a pilot program to remove challenges for low-income families in Northwest Roanoke who seek to better their lives and their families’ futures. This partnership focused on child care, which can present a significant barrier.
